Aberdeen Police Announce Felony Breaking & Entering Arrest

The Aberdeen Police Department announces the arrest of 18 year old Aaron Rashad Dowd.

On March 8, 2024, Patrol Officers with the Aberdeen Police Department responded to a business in the area of Highway 211 and Indiana Avenue in reference to a breaking & entering and larceny.

Aberdeen Officers were able to identify the suspect as Dowd based on further investigation, witness testimony, and review of video surveillance. A warrant for arrest based on the evidence obtained was issued for Dowd.

Aberdeen Police Officers, along with deputies from the Moore County Sheriff’s Office attempted to locate Dowd in the coming days. On March 13, 2024 Dowd was located with the assistance of the Southern Pines Police Department and was subsequently arrested on outstanding warrants, along with additional charges from neighboring agencies.

Dowd was charged by the Aberdeen Police Department with 2 counts of Felony Breaking or Entering a Building, 1 count of Felony Possession of Burglary Tools, and 2 counts of Larceny. He was taken before a Moore County Magistrate and was remanded to the Moore County Detention Center under no bond.

All persons charged with a crime are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
