According to Southern Pines Fire Marshal Ken Skipper the fire in the restrooms at the Cookout Restaurant Wednesday night was believed to have been intentionally set by an unknown person or persons.
Multiple fire departments were called out Wednesday night to a reported structure fire at the restaurant located on US Highway 15-501 in Southern Pines just after 9:00 pm
The first arriving units reported smoke showing from the rear corner of the building.
Firefighters were able to contain the fire to the restroom area stopping it before the fire could extend into the roof or other parts of the building.
Investigators with Southern Pines Fire & Rescue and Southern Pines Police Department have been investigating the incident since Wednesday night.
