Domestic Violence & Assault Results In No Bond For Aberdeen Man Saturday


An Aberdeen man was jailed Saturday morning after a domestic incident and assault that occurred in the Lobelia area of Moore county.


The Moore County Sheriff's Department was called to an address on Jolinda Road off of Wright Road Saturday morning to reports of an domestic incident that reportedly involved an assault.


According to Moore County Sheriff's Office Major Eric Galloway, the incident began when the man made an uninvited entry into a home in reference to a child.


From that point, there was an assault that took place, with the man reportedly hitting another man in the head with a hammer before fleeing the scene in a vehicle.


Law enforcement had issued a BOLO (Be On Look Out) for the white Ford Explorer driven by the subject. He was quickly taken into custody by deputies less than an hour after the incident occurred.


The fire department was also dispatched to this call initially as there were reports that the fleeing vehicle had struck the trailer, however according to Fire Chief Kenny Mackey there was minimal damage to the home or vehicle.


The victim that was hit in the head was transported to the hospital by ambulance with injuries that were not life-threatening according to the Chief.


The Sheriff's Office arrested 20 year old Damien Tyvaun Jones from a Victory Lane address in Aberdeen.


He was charged with assault with a deadly weapon, assault with a deadly weapon resulting in serious injury, break or enter with the intent to terrorize or injure occupant, misdemeanor crime of domestic violence, misdemeanor child abuse, second degree trespass, and injury to real property.


He was held without bond. His first scheduled court appearance is scheduled for September 18, 2024.


All persons charged with a crime are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
