Driver Escapes Injury In Rollover Accident In Aberdeen Overnight

Emergency responders were dispatched to a vehicle accident on US Highway 1 in Aberdeen near the intersection of Montford Street just before 3:30 am.

Initial reports were of a vehicle overturned with a person possibly entrapped or pinned in the vehicle.

According to fire officials when they arrived at the scene they had to use specialized rescue tools to open the driver's side door to free the adult female driver.

After being freed from the overturned vehicle the driver stated that she was not injured. The victim was evaluated by EMS at the scene but declined to be transported to the hospital.

Both southbound lanes of US Highway 1 were temporarily blocked by emergency vehicles responding to this accident requiring drivers passing through the area to use the center lane to navigate past the wreck scene.

Responding tonight were units with Aberdeen Fire & Rescue, Moore County EMS, and the Aberdeen Police Department.

Southern Pines Fire & Rescue and UNC Air Care were also dispatched in reference to this call, but both were canceled shortly after Aberdeen crews reached the scene.
