Sheriff Ronnie Fields announces an arrest following an investigation in the Eagle Springs area of Moore County.
On June 29, 2024 Moore County Sheriff’s Deputies responded to a medical emergency involving a 15-year-old child in Eagle Springs, North Carolina.
During a joint investigation with North Carolina Alcohol Law Enforcement (ALE), it was discovered that an adult had provided alcohol to the minor resulting in the medical emergency. On July 1, 2024 investigators arrested Javan Luke Overton, age 37, of Eagle Springs, North Carolina.
Overton was charged with one count of felony child abuse inflicting serious bodily injury, contributing to the delinquency of a minor, aiding underage purchase of alcohol, aiding underage consumption of alcohol, and giving alcohol to a person under 21 years of age.
Overton was committed to the Moore County Detention Center under a $30,000.00 secured bond pending an appearance in Moore County District Court on July 24, 2024.
