Jeanette Joyce Schnell Obituary

It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved mother, Jeanette Joyce Schnell , who passed away on 7-25-2024 at the age of 88.

Born on 9-15-1935 in St John, Brunswick, Canada and raised in Detroit Michigan, she worked for Ford Motor Company and then was a flight attendant for TWA Airlines. She moved to Pinehurst, NC in 1977.

She was a dedicated and loving wife to her late husband Edward Schnell.

Jan loved all music and started an event for the Arts Council of Moore County, Jazz ‘n January, which became the Heart and soul of Jazz. Successful for twenty-five years, she brought top jazz artists from, NYC, New Orleans, and around the world.

Jan was a competitive tennis player and later learned the joys of golf. She was passionate about cooking and baking, and her homemade dishes were always the highlight of family gatherings and dinner parties with friends. She also had a green thumb and loved tending to her garden, which was always in full bloom. She enjoyed reading books, playing cards and solving crossword puzzles in her free time. Jan picked up oil painting at 80 and became quite an accomplished artist.

Jan was not only a force of nature, but a kind and generous soul, always putting others’ needs before her own. Her love and compassion extended to all those who knew her, and she will be remembered for her infectious smile and warm personality - truly one of a kind.
