Johnny McLaughlin, Sr

Johnny McLaughlin, Sr., born July 9, 1946, to Hubert Lee Taylor and Harriet Louise Booth. He was raised by his grandparents Rev. Carson and Thelma McLaughlin.


Our heavenly Father stretched out his hand and beckoned Johnny to his eternal home on Saturday night, July 13, 2024, where he was reunited with the love of his life Cynthia Ritter McLaughlin.


Johnny was a faithful member of Bellview AME Zion Church where he was the president of the church choir and a Trustee. His previous duties included Pastor Steward, Usher, and member of the Male Choir, where he was always ready with “Holy, Holy, Holy are you Lord.”


He worked at Perdue Farms and later at Vanderbuilt Minerals. He was also a caddy at many popular golf courses and traveled as a equine groomer. After he retired, he was a fix it man and he would try to fix anything.


Johnny was preceded in death by his loving wife Cynthia Ritter McLaughlin in 2015 and his sons Terrell McLaughlin and Freddie Barrett. His brothers Harold (Buster) McQueen, Herbert Lee McLaughlin, Wallace Edward Booth, and Ricky Little. A sister Loretta Marion Livingston. Two great grandsons Brayden and Zayden Blyther.


His memory will be engraved and cherished in the hearts of his children, Johnny (Veronica) McLaughlin of Asheboro, NC and Takhia (James) Conrad of the home. Grandchildren Deonite McLaughlin, DeAndre Conrad, Lincoln McLaughlin, Sabrina Moore, Cameron Riggs, Brittany Gregg, Naomi Christin and 10 great-grandchildren. Nephews, Harold Pratt, Donald Jr., and Dwayne Livingston. Nieces, Irish Ray and Thelma Warren. His aunts Beverly McLaughlin and Minister Artelious (Nathaniel) Lett.


Also, his best friend Ronnie Thompson and his riding partner Jimmy Boyd and a host of many relatives and friends.
