Leda Arlette Fisher Eaton, age 89, of Whispering Pines, passed away peacefully on Monday, June 3, 2024 at Pinehurst Health & Rehabilitation in Pinehurst, North Carolina with her family by her side.
A Celebration of Life will held on Friday, June 21, 2024 at 11:00am at Cox Memorial Funeral Home in Vass, with a time of visitation immediately following the service.
Leda was born in Oxford, New York on October 12, 1934 to the late DeForest and Edith Alger Bradt. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Henry Martin Eaton and brothers, Dwight Bradt, Larry Bradt and Harold Bradt.
She and her husband Henry traveled to Okinawa and Germany while he was serving in the 82nd Airborne. Leda’s profession was a banker for more than twenty years. Later in life, she worked in the office of Belk in Moore County.
Her hobbies were gardening and volunteering. She greatly enjoyed teaching writing and reading at the Indian Center through F.T.S. in Fayetteville and also helping with a food program at Social Services. Her Moore County volunteer work included a Pregnancy Support Group as well as the Whispering Pines Thrift Shop.
She was strong in her faith and committed to raising her children to know the Lord. She was so blessed that all her children have a personal relationship with the Lord.
She is survived by daughters, Lynne Oakley, Jackie McKenzie (Dale), Faye Baxley (Glenn) all of Moore County; sons, Martin Eaton (Beth) of Texas, Greg Eaton (Sandy) of South Carolina; ten grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren and one great-great grandchild.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the food bank of your choice in memory of Leda.
