Man Facing Arson Charges Following Overnight Structure Fire In Cameron

Emergency responders were dispatched out just after 1:00 a.m. Monday morning to a structure fire on Chestnut Street in Cameron.


Firefighters arrived to find a single story home fully involved in flames.


According to fire Chief Mike Cameron, the home was unoccupied at the time of the fire and did not have electricity to it.


Monday morning, the Moore County Sheriff's Department arrested a Cameron man under charges of arson for this fire.


60 year old Ernest Junior Belk from a Fayetteville Street address in Cameron has been charged with 2nd Degree Arson and Burning Unoccupied Building.


He is being held under a $100,000 secured bond with a first appearance in court scheduled for 07/31/24.


All persons facing criminal charges are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
