Motorcycle Rider Airlifted Following Head-on Collision On Lobelia Road Sunday

Emergency responders were dispatched to a vehicle accident on NC 690 at the intersection of McGill Road just before 11:00 pm Sunday.


According to fire officials the adult male motorcycle driver suffered serious injuries.


The victim was transported from the scene by ambulance to a landing zone that had been established at the Crains Creek Fire Department. From here a helicopter transported the man to a Trauma Center for treatment.


NC 690 was closed to traffic in both directions for an extended time while the injured man was assisted and the accident investigated.


According to the Highway Patrol the passenger car was traveling east on NC 690 and was attempting to turn onto McGill Road when the collision with the motorcycle traveling west on NC 690 occurred.


Responding tonight were units with Crains Creek Fire & Rescue, Moore County EMS, Moore County Sheriff's Office, and the NC State Highway Patrol.
