No Charges To Be Filed In Fatal February Accident

On Saturday, February 10, 2024, at approximately 7:30 PM, Aberdeen Police Officers were dispatched to the area of US 1, near W. Maple Ave, in reference to a collision involving a vehicle and a bicyclist.

Upon arrival, officers located an unresponsive male lying in the roadway near a bicycle. The reporting party and driver of the vehicle, a 2000 Ford Econoline Wagon, was also standing by in the roadway. The bicyclist was identified as Larry Darnella Cameron, 63 years old, of Aberdeen, NC.

Moore County EMS attempted live saving measures, however Cameron was pronounced deceased shortly after first responders arrived on the scene.

Aberdeen Police Officers, along with a Traffic Crash Reconstructionist with the department, thoroughly investigated the traffic collision. Officers obtained witness statements and the Traffic Crash Reconstructionist worked to determine the point of impact, speed of the vehicle, and other relevant contributing factors of the collision.

After months of investigation and the conclusion of results from the North Carolina Medical Examiner’s Office, no fault was established on behalf of the driver of the Ford Econoline Wagon. After collaborating with the Moore County District Attorney’s Office, it was determined that no charges will be filed.

This unfortunate event was a tragic accident, and we will continue to keep the families in our thoughts.
