Emergency responders were dispatched to a vehicle accident on US Highway 15-501 near the Moore/Lee County line Sunday just before 3:00 pm
One person was transported from the scene by ambulance to a landing zone that had been established a short distance away. A helicopter from Valley Air transported the victim from there to a Trauma Center for treatment.
According to officials two people from one vehicle were transported to the hospital with injuries that were reported as not life-threatening. One person from the second vehicle was evaluated at the scene but was not transported.
US Highway 15-501 was closed to traffic in both directions for an extended period while the injured were assisted and the vehicles removed from the roadway.
Responding were units with Cypress Pointe Fire & Rescue, Carthage Fire & Rescue, Moore County EMS, Moore County Sheriff's Office, and the NC State Highway Patrol.
