Emergency responders were dispatched to a vehicle accident at the intersection of 24/27 and Stage Road just after 9:30 pm Monday.
The wreck involved a Chevrolet pickup and a Kia Sorento.
The accident left the Sorento in the ditch off of the edge of the road. The truck came to rest on top of a small hill off of the roadway.
A helicopter had initially been dispatched to assist with this incident, however the aircraft was canceled by paramedics at the scene before the helicopter landed.
According to fire officials, one victim from the Kia was transported to the hospital by ambulance with injuries reported as not immediately life-threatening.
Responding tonight were units with Carthage Fire & Rescue, Cypress Pointe Fire & Rescue, Moore County EMS, Moore County Sheriff's Office, Carthage Police Department, and the NC State Highway Patrol.
The cause of this accident was under investigation as of this report.
