Pinebluff Firefighters Give Station Face-lift

The team at Pinebluff Fire & Rescue recently completed giving the inside of the station a new look.

When on shift Firefighters work 24-hours at a time. The first 8 hours of their day is typically filled with a plethora of never ending station duties including maintaining the vehicles, equipment, building and grounds. Each shift also conducts regular in-house training.

When not busy on calls the remaining 16 hours of the day are filled with things like eating, time watching TV in the Day Room, or sitting around the large dining room table enjoying each others company before retiring to bed for the night.

Recently firefighters here decided to undertake a remodel project at the firehouse which was built in 2014. This included adding a table from the old station in the dining room, and converting a large storage room into what is now a Day Room with recliners and a television providing a place for firefighters to relax when between fires or station duties.

The firefighters did the majority of the work themselves including laying new floor and painting. A large handmade barn door was also built by one of the Firefighters for a storage closet.

In addition firefighters used a number of items that hold historical value to help decorate the station.

This includes the previous signs from the original fire department location, original leather fire helmets, and more.

Firefighters here went as far as to mark the restroom doors with male and female hose couplings.

The end result was to take an environment that was almost sterile like and turn it into a living piece of the departments long history serving the community here. Great job to all who involved.
