Reported Lightning Strike In Aberdeen Saturday

Emergency units were dispatched this afternoon for a report of a lightning strike to a residence on Pecan Lane in Aberdeen just after 6:00 pm


When the first unit arrived on the scene, there was a light haze of smoke visible from the ridge line of the roof.


Firefighters made access from the inside of the house. There was a reported small fire in the attic area, however firefighters quickly extinguished it.


Lightning struck a tree in the backyard before entering the house according to fire officials.


The resident was home when the lightning strike occurred and quickly dialed 911.



This was the third lightning strike this afternoon with a house in Taylortown reportedly struck and a vehicle reportedly struck in Pinehurst.


Responding today were units with Aberdeen Fire & Rescue, Pinebluff Fire & Rescue, Pinehurst Fire Department, Southern Pines Fire & Rescue, Fort Liberty Fire Department and Aberdeen Police Department.
