Sheriff Announces Charges Following Monday Night Vehicle Pursuit

Sheriff Ronnie Fields announces the arrest of one individual following a vehicle pursuit in the Pinehurst area of Moore County.


On April 22nd, 2024, a deputy with the Moore County Sheriff’s Office was assisting with traffic control on US 15-501 near Page Road in Pinehurst while construction on the roadway was being performed.


During this time, a minor traffic collision occurred between two vehicles. The deputy on scene attempted to assist the motorists when one of the two vehicles involved in the accident fled the scene on US 15-501 traveling North. A vehicle pursuit was initiated by the deputy, as the vehicle failed to stop.


The suspect vehicle proceeded North on US 15-501 for a few miles and eventually made a U-turn heading back South on US 15-501 towards Pinehurst. During the pursuit, the suspect’s vehicle collided with the Moore County Sheriff’s Office patrol vehicle twice before eventually becoming disabled.


The driver of the vehicle was then taken into custody without further incident. Sheila Renee Allred, 49 years of age, of Pinehurst, N.C. was arrested and charged with felony flee to elude arrest with motor vehicle, injury to personal property, driving while license revoked, reckless driving to endanger, and speeding. The defendant was also served with an outstanding warrant for arrest for misdemeanor probation violation.


Allred was committed to the Moore County Detention Center under no bond with a court date of May 22nd, 2024.


Pinehurst Police Department is expected to have additional charges related to the traffic accident.


All defendants facing criminal charges are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
