Emergency responders were dispatched around 01:45 a.m. to a reported shooting on Dogwood Circle in the Taylortown area.
An adult male reportedly received a gunshot injury that was not life-threatening. He was transported by ambulance to the hospital in Pinehurst according to emergency officials.
Shortly after the shooting was dispatched, information on a possible suspect was given out over the radio to law enforcement and law enforcement units responded to an area where that suspect lived on Juniper Lake Road.
After law enforcement arrived at that house, a person ran from the residence on foot and a foot chase ensued.
Multiple law enforcement units left the scene of the original shooting call on Dogwood Circle to converge on the area of West Montgomery Street in Taylortown.
As of this report, law enforcement has established a large perimeter between Juniper Lake Road and West Montgomery Street. A K9 unit has been brought in to assist in the ground search for the suspect.
Deputies are searching for the suspect both on foot and in vehicles.
Responding tonight initially were units with Pinerhurst Fire Department, Moore County EMS, and the Moore County Sheriff's Office. The Pinehurst Police Department and a K9 with the Southern Pines Police Department were called to assist.
