South Street in Aberdeen is a notorious cut-through for drivers between NC Highway 211 and US Highway 1.
The drivers on this road are predominantly people who do not live in the area.
Aberdeen Police Department has been working diligently to enforce traffic regulations with little to no effect on drivers speeding even with numerous citations issued.
In an effort to have an impact on the heavy traffic flow on this residential road, the speed limit has been decreased to 20 mph.
Beginning on Tuesday there is also now a 4-Way Stop at the intersection of South Street and Glasgow Street.
