Third Structure Fire In 24-Hours Sunday Afternoon

Firefighters were paged to the third structure fire to occur here in Moore County in the last 24 hours when they were called Sunday afternoon to a fire in Eastwood.

Just after 4:00 pm units were dispatched to a structure fire on Lisa Lane off of Murdocksville Road.

The first arriving fire unit reported a storage building that was fully involved in flames.

Firefighters were able to put out the fire before it could spread further, however the building and it's contents were a total loss.

Fortunately the storage building was not near any other structures or vehicles.

As per the current protocol due to near drought conditions in the area, a Tanker Task Force was dispatched to this call, however Chief Bullard from Eastwood had these units stand-by at their stations as the units on-scene were able to handle the call.

Because there was no electricity to the building and no obvious ignition source the Fire Chief requested the on-duty Fire Marshal to respond to help determine how the fire may have started.

Responding this afternoon were units from Eastwood Fire Department, Pinehurst Fire Department, Carthage Fire & Rescue, Moore County Sheriff's Office, and the Moore County Fire Marshals Office.

The other two fires today include one in Pinebluff last night and one in West End this morning. Counting these three fires and the fire outside of West End early Friday morning firefighters have responded to four structure fires this weekend among the many other calls including car fires, outside fires, vehicle accidents and medical calls.
