Two Additional Cases Of Rabies Confirmed In Moore County Within The Past Week


Sheriff Ronnie Fields announces two confirmed cases of rabies within the past week.

 

On May 23rd and 24th, Moore County Sheriff’s Office Animal Services deputies responded to residences in Aberdeen and West End, respectively, where occupants had encountered bats. Both bats were sent for testing and confirmed to be rabid.

 

This marks the sixth case of rabies in the County this year.  Sheriff Fields urges citizens to be vigilant in protecting themselves and their pets throughout the county.

 

If you encounter a bat in your residence or suspect any animals displaying suspicious behavior that may be rabid, please contact Moore County Sheriff’s Office Animal Services at (910) 947-2858.
