Two Airlifted Following Highway 73 Collision

Emergency responders were dispatched to a report of a vehicle accident Thursday just before 10:00 am on NC Highway 73 at the intersection of Jackson Springs Road.


A male victim was transported from the scene by ambulance to a landing zone that had been established at the West End Fire Department to meet a helicopter to be airlifted to a Trauma Center.

A female victim was transprted by ambulance to a landing zone that was established in a field near the wreck scene off of Jackson Springs Road. A helicopter landed here to transport the woman to a Trauma Center.


An additional male victim was transported by ambulance to the hospital in Pinehurst according to officials at the scene.


NC Highway 73 was closed to traffic in both directions for an extended time period following this accident.

According to the Highway Patrol a Honda Civic traveling on Jackson Springs Road ran a stop sign striking the other passenger car traveling on 73.


Responding were units with West End Fire & Rescue, Seven Lakes Fire Rescue, Moore County EMS, Moore County Sheriff's Office, and the NC State Highway Patrol. A passing firefighters from Derby Fire Department also stopped to assist.
