Vehicle Wrecks Attempting To Flee Law Enforcement Monday Night

A Sheriff's Deputy became involved in a brief vehicle chase Monday evening around 9:00 pm that ended with the fleeing passenger vehicle off of the side of the roadway with minor damage.


The adult female driver was reportedly transported to the hospital by ambulance with injuries that were not life-threatening.


The chase was initiated on US Highway 15-501 near the traffic circle in Pinehurst. The driver drove towards Carthage before turning around in the Eastwood area reportedly damaging a Deputies vehicle and driving back towards Pinehurst.



The passenger car eventually ran off of the road coming to a stop off of the side of 15-501 before reaching Forest Drive in Pinehurst where the driver was taken into custody.


This occurred right at the beginning of the lane closure for paving operations on 15-501.


According to law enforcement the car had been involved in a collision and failed to stop near the traffic circle.


There were no injuries to law enforcement or the public in tonight's incident.


Pinehurst Police Department is reportedly investigating the first wreck, which happened in the city limits, while the collision involving the Sheriff's Office vehicle is being investigated by the NC State Highway Patrol.


Responding were units with Pinehurst Fire Department, Moore County EMS, Pinehurst Police Department, Moore County Sheriff's Office and the NC State Highway Patrol.


Update: The driver in last night's incident has been Identified as 49 year old Sheila Renee Allred from a Spring Lake Lane address in Pinehurst. 


Allred was charged with flee/elude arrest with a motor vehicle, speeding, reckless driving to endanger, injury to personal property, and driving while license revoked.  


She was held under no bond on the charges by Moore County Sheriff's Office and an additional $10,000 bond for a probation violation by an out of county agency. Her first appearance in District Court is on May 22, 2024.


All persons charged with a crime are considered innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
